THURSDAY HEADLINES from the GOAT ISLAND SIGNAL


Here's some headlines from this weeks edition of the Goat Island Signal

According to reports obtained from the Goat Island Sheriffs Department, local troublemaker Pedro is suspected of stealing bicycles from 3 separate tourists, only to return them to their real owner, Goat Island Rentals.  A similar situation also occurred with a rented golf cart, but Pedro cannot be linked to that incident.

Commodore Richard Norton announced the dates for this years race for Lafitte's Cup. The sail boat race, which begins in Grand Isle, LA and ends at Goat Island, will start on October 19. The traditional post race party will be held at the City Pavilion on October 23. Lafitte's Cup will be held as originally scheduled despite fears that the Gulf Oil Spill would cause it to be modified or canceled completely.

The Goat Island Summer Concert Series will continue this Friday when Tumba &; The Conga Circle will be perform at the City Amphitheater from 7:30-9:30PM.

The Goat Island Alcohol Commission is looking into complaints that bartenders at the Brass Parrot have been pouring light or even non-alcoholic mixed drinks. The investigation follows more than a dozen complaints over the past month, most of them from tourists. Linda Post, owner of the Brass Parrot, denies any wrongdoing.
